HCC Educational Extension Works project

Overview

We were tasked with measuring and pricing these works, which included specialist foundation piling and critical boundary retaining walls—accurate quantification was vital to mitigate risk. We managed this by breaking the project down into distinct, manageable work packages. While complex substructure and external earthworks elements were tendered out to our trusted local supply chain for specialist benchmarking, the remaining building fabric and internal finishes were quantified and priced entirely in-house. This strategic division of labour ensured complete budget control and enabled us to issue a fully vetted, commercially sound proposal.

The scheme also required new drainage connections and a steel frame structure attaching to the existing walls of a classroom. These types of connection works require consideration and contingencies to ensure a fair and healthy margin is maintained.
